As part of our campaign to put the "public" back in "public power", we're asking Nebraska citizens to join us at NPPD Board meetings to talk about our expectations regarding fossil fuels, renewable energy and efficiency. The February Board Retreat, which doubles as their monthly meeting, is critical because the board will reveal their Generation Options Analysis which heavily shapes their energy plans for the near and distant future.

Join Interchurch Ministries at the Christ United Methodist Church in Lincoln for a vigil to urge the state’s senate to reestablish emergency Medicaid pre-natal care in Nebraska. In 2010, 1,600 Nebraska women lost access to prenatal care through Medicaid, leaving them without the critical care that would help their baby be born as healthy as possible. The time is ripe to restore that care and make sure Nebraska babies are born healthy.

Planned Parenthood's theme for this year's lobby day at the Unicameral is "Prevention First." Young people in Nebraska need more information about how to stay healthy than they are currently given in Nebraska school's abstinence-only sexual health education. Worse yet, some schools remain completely silent on this crucial topic that impacts students' lives and futures.
