Laura Ingraham was not in a journalistic mood last night. When I appear with Bill O’Reilly he at least gives me the opportunity to talk. It was clear after the first question that Laura wanted to echo what many of the anti-abortion groups are saying right now as an orchestrated campaign to try and frame Planned Parenthood as supporting sex trafficking. That is an outlandish claim and the only people who will believe it are the same people who continue to sit in their corner rather than develop common sense laws to reduce the amount of abortions and ensure women have access to preventative as well as prenatal care.

LB 594 requires mental health screenings of any woman seeking an abortion and sets up a series of obstacles and potential lawsuits for doctors. Because these obstacles are nearly insurmountable, it’s clear that the law was a backdoor attempt to ban abortion. Planned Parenthood filed a lawsuit, and U.S. District Judge Laurie Smith Camp ruled to temporarily block the law.

Omaha lawyer Patrick Runge answers that question and sheds even more light on the debate over Nebraska's restrictive abortion bill in his Alternet post "Nebraska’s Abortion Notification Bill is Stillborn."
Nebraska's LB 594 created a list of procedures and screenings that doctors providing abortions in the state must comply with. The bill also sets up doctors who provide abortions as sitting targets for lawsuits if they do not follow LB 594 to the letter. Planned Parenthood recently filed and was granted an injunction against LB 594 which was slated to go into effect July 19th.
